Unlock Your iPhone (Pc & Mac)
This guide outlines how to unlock an iPhone. Unlocking your iPhone will allow you to run the phone on any carrier, so you're not tied to AT&T (or Rogers in Canada).
NOTE: Your iPhone must be jailbroken to use this guide. If your iPhone is not jailbroken click here to go back to our guides page and select the proper guide.
First, find the version of firmware that your iPhone is running:
1) Turn on your iPhone and go to settings.
2) Select "general".
3) Select "about".
4) Scroll down until you see .
Congratulations now that you have found out the firmware version expand the section of this guide that applys to you and your iPod.
Finding the Firmware/Baseband Version of Your iPhone
These are instructions on how to find the firmware and baseband version (modem firmware) your iPhone is currently running.
1) Press to launch Settings from your Springboard.
2) Press to select General from the Settings Menu.
3) Press to select About from the General Settings Menu.
4) From the about screen you can find your firmware version under the Version label.
5) Scroll down and you can find your baseband version under the Modem Firmware label.
Firmware 3.0 - 3.0.2 using UltraSn0w
You must be running the 3.0 firmware on baseband version 04.26.08 and have used PwnageTool or RedSn0w to jailbreak. You can follow the instructions in the section below titled: "Finding the Firmware/Baseband Version of Your iPhone" to check this. If you are not on baseband version 04.26.08 then you need to follow one of the tutorials from the guides page which will teach you how to jailbreak your iPhone using PwnageTool or RedSn0w.
NOTE: If you are on T-Mobile remember to turn off 3G before starting.
1) Press to launch Cydia Installer from your SpringBoard.
2) Press to select the Manage tab at the bottom of the screen.
3) Press to select the large Sources button
4)Press the Edit button at the top right of the screen.
5) Press the Add button at the top left of the screen.
6) Enter http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ as the source url and press the Add Source button.
7) Once the source has been added press the large Return to Cydia button.
8) Press the Done button at the top right of the screen.
9) Press to select repo666.ultrasn0w.com from the list of user entered sources.
10) Press to select ultrasn0w from the list of packages
11) Press the Install button at the top right of the screen.
12) Press the Confirm button at the top right of the screen.
13) After installation completes successfully press the large Return to Cydia button.
14) Now press the Home button then power off and power on the iPhone. You do this by holding down the power button for 3 seconds then moving the power slider that appears to the right. Press the power button again to turn on the phone.
15) You should now be able to insert the SIM of your choice!
